Q: What is the Samoyed Art Show?

A: The Samoyed Club of America will have an Art Show at the 2002 National Specialty in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This
is the 3rd year this event has been offered. The entries are in a variety of different categories and represent work
inspired by the beauty of the Samoyed dog.

Q: Who can enter the Samoyed Art Show?

A: Anyone can enter the Samoyed Art Show. You need not be a member of the Samoyed Club of America to enter. You
do not need to be in attendance at the show, but you must be able to deliver your artwork to the site.

Q: When will the Samoyed Art Show be held?

A: The Samoyed Art Show is part of the SCA National which will be held in Carlisle, Pennsylvania (USA) the week of
October 14-19, 2002. Full details of the National schedule can be found at:

     http://www.samoyed.org/SCASpec2002/Schedule2002.html

Q: How do I enter?

A: All entries must be pre-registered. The pre-registration form is available in the National Registration Packet, or
     online at:

      http://www.samoyed.org/SCASpec2002/ArtShowEntryForm.html

Q: What is the deadline for entering the Samoyed Art Show?

A: Pre-entries must be registered by October 1, 2002. Entries must be received on site by noon on Tuesday, October 15,
    2002.

Q: What is the entry fee?

A:  Once again this year, we are charging no fee to enter the Art Show. If you wish to make a donation to help
defray the cost of rosettes, your contribution will be most welcome. Please direct such donations to Trophy Chair
Bev Delaney and specify that you are donating for the Art Show rosettes. The trophy donation form is available
online for email or printing at:

     http://www.samoyed.org/SCASpec2002/trophydonation.html

Q: Must I donate the pieces I enter in the Art Show to the SCA 2002 Auction?

A:  Not at all. But we certainly encourage you to consider doing so! The auction donation form is available at:

     http://www.samoyed.org/SCASpec2002/AuctionDonation.html

Q: How many pieces may I enter in the Samoyed Art Show?

A: There is no limit, space permitting.

Q: What categories of artwork may be entered in the Samoyed Art Show?

A: Artwork may be entered in the following categories:

In addition, artists may specify that their entries be in either the
Professional or Amateur artist category.

Q: What is the difference between a professional artist and an amateur artist?

A: This distinction has nothing to do with whether or not a person makes a living selling their art (or has ever sold a
piece). If you feel your mastery of the technique is of a professional level, you should enter in that category.
Likewise,  if you feel you are an amateur, you are. You could be an amateur in one type of art and a professional in
     another.

Q: Does my artwork have to be framed?

A: 2 Dimensional pieces and photographic pieces need to be protected. They also need to be displayable. Matting serves
this function very well. Frames are acceptable, but not encouraged due to weight. If your piece is likely to smudge,
we do suggest you cover it with shrink wrap or a similar type of protection. Entering good quality prints of your work
is another excellent way to avoid smudging.

Q:  Should I put my name on my art?

A:  Please mark your artwork in a location that will not show during display, such as the bottom of 3 dimensional pieces
or the back of 2 dimensional pieces. Fabric pieces may be marked on the inside or with an attached tag.

Q: What is the fabric art category about? What are the 3 different sub-categories of fabric art?

A: Fabric art is made of fiber. It may include 2 Dimensional or 3 Dimensional pieces.
There are 3 sub-categories of Fabric Art.
